Google Map My Location
December 21, 2007 by Yiling · Leave a Comment
This is so awesome… Before I “misplaced” my curve 8300, I had my favorite places set on it, so that I can quickly go to my location to find things and places, since it doesn’t have GPS.
I just set up a replacement 8300 that Michael was sooo gracious to offer to me, and right after I downloaded my important apps, I went to check out google map and there was my location!
I work in Downtown Long Beach and this shows exactly where I’m at!

Sprint’s the “Leader” in Customer Service???

So that report where you were rated DEAD LAST among all wireless carriers was just a lie? All those millions of posts in various forums are just crazy lunatics exaggerating? It was just a very long, bad dream? Thank God.

R0de/Rode Podcaster Vista “beta” Driver
December 17, 2007 by Yiling · Leave a Comment
As Michael mentioned on the podcast on Dec. 14th, R0de Podcaster doesn’t play nice with Vista. I did find a beta driver, and installed it, but I missed the step where you unplug the mic, and replug it so that Vista can recognize it, since there are no instructions. I figured that one out after we recorded the podcast. But now it does work, and now the Vista has the “correct” drivers. But anyway, here’s the link to get the Vista driver for all of you who has the Podcaster and a Vista.

Sorry for not mentioning who sent that in. Listen to the podcast to hear what Michael said about the game!
Problems with Sprint CS? The Consumerist Can Help
December 15, 2007 by Michael Manna · Leave a Comment

For those of you who are hold with Sprint’s “exceptional” customer service only to be dealt the runaround after 3 hours hearing elevator music, the famous Consumerist website has a hotline to help you. As a matter of fact, they supposedly have a monitor at Sprint. Here is an excerpt of one customer’s experience:
I called this morning and spoke with four rep’s before being transferred to a supervisor, whom I informed of the situation. She apologized again, and by this time, I’m sick of having people tell me that they’re sorry, I just want the problem fixed and the phone activated. She advises it will be 24-48 hours before they can do anything. I hung up on her and immediately called the media relations number.
I spoke with the receptionist and told him that I needed to speak to whomever would like to keep me from emailing all the details to the Consumerist blog and having it plastered on the internet and also advised that I didn’t think the Prez of the company would be happy with that happening. Miracles happened and axes came down. Did you know The Consumerist has its own monitor at Sprint? This is almost like having a personal assistant. Needless to say, I was transferred to executive customer service and the issue was resolved and my phone was activated in 15 minutes. Thank you, Consumerist, for being a voice with power for the people.
-Addison
The hotline number is 703-433-4401. I would highly recommend using this great resource to kick Sprint in their ass and resolving issues. Issues that they create and escalate in the first place.
PLease visit the site at consumerist.com.

Garageband 4.1.1 Adds Ringtone Export to iPhone
December 15, 2007 by Michael Manna · Leave a Comment

In the new version of Garageband, Apple has added the ability to make a 40 second clip into a ringtone for your iPhone. Pretty cool considering that they are trying to make money via the iTunes Store this way. I applaud Apple for allowing the consumer to, openly, take their audio files and add them as ringtones to their iPhone.

Treo 755p to Verizon on December 17th
December 14, 2007 by Michael Manna · Leave a Comment

The 755p will be coming, online, to Verizon December 17th and I’m afraid to even give the tentative pricing……..oh well, you’ve been warned. Don’t get mad. I didn’t set the prices. I think Robbie did when he worked for Verizon:
$449.99 with a 2 year contract
$519.99 with a 1 year contract
$569.99 full retail
As much as I’m a fan of the Palm OS, I don’t think I’m that big a fan.

Dave Ciccone from Mobility Today did a much more extensive video of the Tytn II aka the AT&T Tilt. I was very impressed with all it could handle at once and at a fast speed. I know Robbie loves his Tilt, so I’m sure he will enjoy this video:
