iPhone Rumor Round-Up
May 31, 2008 by vince · Leave a Comment
Since there have been so many iPhone rumors lately, I took it upon myself to compile some of the more juicy ones all in one place. Remember, none of this is official until Uncle Steve rolls up the sleeves of his black turtleneck and delivers the keynote at WWDC on June 9th.
Shipment of “Electric Computers” – Could this nondescript packaging be holding the coveted new iPhone?
iPhone Ships on June 9th? – This is the obvious one. With Steve Jobs making the keynote, there is speculation that he’ll be delivering the goods that very day.
.Mac to be revamped? – This was just dropped yesterday, that .Mac may be renamed to Mobile Me and offer push e-mail and other new features that would fit well with… the “new” iPhone.
Apple shooting commercial at 5th Ave. – Honestly, this could be for anything. But iPhone conspiracy theorists seem to think this commercial is being filmed for the iPhone.
iPhone icon gives away “new” iPhone design? – I’m a little skeptical about this one, if only because of the crappy resizing. It could have easily been faked, but some are saying this is the new shape of the iPhone.
The unfortunate thing about all these rumors is that they are only rumors. If you were to call any Apple Retail Store you will receive the same response: “I don’t know.” The retail employees are left in the dark until literally the day a new product arrives.
What we do know: Rather than continuing with rumors, I’d like to point out the only two things we know for certain:
Steve Jobs delivers the WWDC Keynote on June 9th
The iPhone 2.0 software will be released in June
Other than that, everything is speculation. We could be expecting a brand new iPhone and just get the same old iPhone with new software on June 9th. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Until next time, Apple Fanatics!

The proration is simple: for each month of your contract, the cancellation fee drops by $5. In other words, if you are halfway through your 2-year contract you will only pay $115 per line to get out instead of $175; if you have 6 months left, that amount drops to $85. With one month left, you pay $60. One disclaimer to keep in mind, however, is that this offer is extended only to those who renew or activate contracts as of today; customers who began or upgraded prior to May 25, 2008 will not qualify for this offer.

The Results Are In!

FINALLY after 2 different baseball games and many losses, I defeated Michael in a close game 14 to 13 on the Xbox 360 version of MLB 2K8 last night. I am proud of this achievement due to the fact that I usually get my butt kicked in the worse possible ways when I faced him in the past.
I played as the Yankees and he played as the Red Sox. I took an early lead and held it through till the 6th inning which is when he briefly made a comeback and jumped ahead. Then out of no where, the stars aligned and the earth’s axis tilted an extra quarter of an inch, and I managed to tie the game in the 8th inning and score a point in the 9th for the win. What a battle between 2 of the T4 Show personalities, chances are I will never get this lucky again in the future, so I must enjoy it now. Too bad I missed taking a picture of the score to show you…
Isn’t it utterly sad that I am this happy about it?
Anyways, thanks for reading.

Twitter Downtime Explained
May 23, 2008 by RDLee · Leave a Comment

taken from: g4tv.com
For those of you that use Twitter, you know it’s been fairly spotty for the past few weeks. It also seemed like the higher-ups at Twitter used those outages to hide in their ivory towers and laugh at all you internet peons. But finally, some word has come from the powers that be about why the site has been having such problems. Basically it boils down to the fact that Twitter has grown on its own and become something more than what it was planned to be. The short explination is that people using Twitter as a messaging system has stressed the original framework, and the staff has been doing hap-hazard spot fixes to help such use along. This all lead to a virtual mess, causing site down time and slow-down.
But guess what, it’s not going to stop anytime soon. Twitter-ers can expect less frequent, but still noticable hickups while the staff tries to rebuild the structure from the ground up, but at least it will come out better in the end. Right? RIGHT?!?!?!

Guitar Hero 4: “World Tour” Confirmed
May 22, 2008 by RDLee · Leave a Comment

Guitar Hero World Tour will feature a set of instruments, including guitar, drums and microphone, and will allow players to compose, record, edit and share their own creations via an in-game studio tool.
The next Guitar Hero axe will feature a “totally new input mechanic” in addition to the standard buttons. The game will still support current GH controllers, however. All instruments in the game, including the drum set, will be wireless.
Guitar Hero IV will also feature an expanded character creation system similar to those found in the Tony Hawk and Tiger Woods games — think facial sliders and customized outfits, accessories and even reaction animations. Instruments will be able to be personalized, too. Licensed guitars are out, drums will have different wood grains available, decals can be created and you’ll even be able to slap your band’s name on the bass drum head.
Activision and Neversoft also said they will release more downloadable songs for Guitar Hero IV than they have for Guitar Hero III and plan to introduce a new music-creation tool. The new Studio Mode will let users not only freely jam over songs in the game but also create and upload their own original tracks. Using a vertically-scrolling grid, you’ll be able to record rhythm, lead, melody, bass and drums (sorry, no vocals) and create loops and effects.
There is no current release date for Guitar Hero 4: World Tour, but I expect it to follow the same release schedule as the previous GH games and will probably launch sometime in late October/early November on Xbox 360, PS3 and the Wii. Thanks for reading and “Game On”

Xbox Live Arcade Games upped to 350 MB
May 21, 2008 by RDLee · Leave a Comment

With the current limit of 150 MB for Xbox Live games, developers will be thrilled to know that Microsoft plans to up the limit to more than double the original size, now allowing up to 350 MB per game. This should help increase the quality and quantity of the games. And this update should allow more games such as the original Soul Caliber have a chance to breath on the system.

Exclusivity over?
May 20, 2008 by Yiling · Leave a Comment
cnet.com posted this article about exclusivity between manufacturers and cell phone carriers. I thought it would be really interesting to see what happens from here.
Exclusive cell phone deals called into question
Rural cell phone carriers want to put an end to exclusive deals between carriers and handset makers.
On Tuesday, the Rural Cellular Association, a group of more than 80 small and rural wireless providers, filed a petition with the Federal Communications Commission to investigate and adopt rules that would prohibit exclusivity arrangements between wireless carriers and cell phone manufacturers. In its petition the group said that these arrangements were unfair and stifled customer choice. The group also believes these deals decrease competition and violate the 1996 Telecommunications Act.
The most prominent example of such a deal is the Apple iPhone. AT&T has the exclusive right to sell the iPhone, which was introduced first in the U.S. market in June. Neither Apple nor AT&T has publicly said how long the exclusivity arrangement will last, but it’s been reported to be at least five years. Verizon Wireless also has an exclusive deal to sell the LG Voyager, another popular smartphone.

IGN Has No Love for “Haze”
May 20, 2008 by RDLee · Leave a Comment

In a slow news week, The video game site IGN.com has caught the attention of gamers and PS3 owners alike. The game “Haze” recieved a very low and disheartening score of 4.5 out of 10. PS3 owners are baffled because this game was supposed to be the “Halo Killer” for the Sony system and had an average rating of 96 from Metacritic. To see what was written in the painstaking review follow this link http://ps3.ign.com/articles/875/875229p1.html and read for yourself. The game releases this week so I will have a review on the T4 Show podcast when I get a chance to play it. We will see if it deserves the low score or if it was just a matter of one man’s poor opinion. Until then Game On!
